According to the statistics of China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, 588700 tons of raw magnesium were produced in China from January to July 2017, an increase of 8.42% year on year. The cumulative production in Shaanxi was 276800 tons, up 9.19% year on year; The cumulative production in Ningxia was 100500 tons, a year-on-year increase of 21.47%, and that in Shanxi was 81400 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.73%.

According to statistical data, from January to July 2017, China exported 283800 tons of various magnesium ingot products, up 29.95% year on year, with a cumulative amount of 654 million yuan, up 26.81% year on year. Among them, 152200 tons of magnesium ingots were exported, a year-on-year increase of 40.13%; Magnesium alloy exports totaled 75100 tons, up 10.83% year on year; A total of 51000 tons of magnesium powder were exported, with a year-on-year increase of 40.22%.

From the perspective of export structure, primary products such as magnesium ingot, magnesium alloy and magnesium powder are still important export products, accounting for 97.5% of the total export volume. Adjusting the export structure and improving the added value of export products are still important issues in the development of magnesium industry.

Market conditions. After 2008, China's magnesium market has entered a relatively mature period, and the price is becoming more reasonable. However, since July this year, the price of magnesium has gone crazy again, with a monthly increase of more than 3000 yuan/ton, and the highest point since 2012, reaching 18500 yuan/ton.

In terms of market supply and demand, domestic magnesium output and export volume have increased in the past seven months, and supply and demand have basically kept balance. This round of market is mainly driven by the price of ferrosilicon, coal and other raw materials, which is influenced by both factors and human factors.

In 2017, China's magnesium output showed a steady upward trend, and both output and export volume are expected to show positive growth. It is preliminarily estimated that the annual output of raw magnesium is about 900000 tons, the export volume is about 400000 tons, and the price fluctuation range of raw magnesium is 15000~18000/ton. As for price, Sun Qian believes that reasonable fluctuation is normal, but it is adverse to enterprise operation and industry development, and will greatly affect the development of industry applications.

Sun Qian said that the magnesium industry is a strategic emerging industry, but it is still in the primary stage of development. All walks of life have insufficient understanding of magnesium materials, and even a considerable number of people have "wrong" understanding of magnesium, which hinders the promotion of magnesium materials application. In 2018, the magnesium industry branch will carry out the propaganda of "knowing and using magnesium", improve the recognition of magnesium materials and expand the application of magnesium. And will continue to promote the research and development of new magnesium smelting technologies, strive to promote the development of pilot and industrialization work, promote energy conservation, emission reduction, transformation and upgrading of the magnesium smelting industry, reduce costs, and improve the competitiveness of magnesium smelting products; It is a breakthrough to realize large-scale application of magnesium materials.
